Jun 18, 2023 · I just recently ordered a Bauer RX1 green spool fly reel. I am waiting to receive it. Never had a Bauer reel before, but I have been interested in one for a long time. For me anyway, an added bonus is that they are based only a short distance away here in Montana. Plus, with Winston rods now- which I like. Only heard good things about them.

Feb 24, 2021 · Agree entirely with WNCTroutstalker. They don't market themselves, really never have. Jon Bauer is a great designer, and I think their reels are superlative: I've owned three of them, and particularly love the original Rogue series. Tough as nails, elegantly functional. The pricing on the newer models, though, is certainly discouraging.

Jun 30, 2019 · I do like my SST reels. They are everything I need in an adjustable drag reel and I have three of them in 3, 4, and 5wt models. Bauer is going to need to offer a successor to the SST soon or change their logo. It doesn't make sense to have the "star drag" logo and yet, no reels with a star drag knob in their reel offerings.

Aug 14, 2014 · Bauer is a damn good fly reel. I currently own two and will own more. I have been impressed with three reels. The older Ross's Gunnison and Cimarron for trout applications....for bigger fish I think the Galvan Torque and the Bauer M or MSL and MZ's. are top notch...I would expect the same from the Rogue.

Feb 3, 2023 · This thread is a real bummer. I have a few Bauer reels I fish on occasion and keep for sentimental reasons. I find it really off-putting to buy a company because you value its history and consumer awareness but completely abandon supporting the products that built it.

There are many times absolute steals are available on Ebay and some forum classifieds for very lightly used reels in excellent condition. I currently own the MSL .5, the LM2 and the MSL 5.
