A running flat correction is a rare pattern that occurs when the B wave fails to retrace much of wave A. Instead, the B wave moves quickly and strongly in the direction of the trend, often exceeding the end of wave A. The C wave then moves beyond the end of wave A, just like in a regular flat correction.

Running flat Elliott wave correction. The running flat Elliott wave pattern also has an internal 3,3,5 wave form similar to the normal flat correction pattern. This classifies the pattern as a flat correction. The big difference between a running flat and a normal flat correction, is that wave 'b' will retrace more than 100% of wave 'a'.
